The 2016 white-grape vintages were quite different in each region; the Hunter was cool and showery, while the Hilltops stayed hot and dry. KTW Hunter Marsannne and Viognier fruit was hand harvested with fine varietal drive, bright crisp acidity, and finesse; while the Hilltops Marsanne and Roussanne components were super-ripe and soft, intriguingly bringing out the best elements of both.
Produced for the first time in 2015, this again has three Rhone-white varieties fermented individually. Each variety was divided into three equal portions: nine lots in all - tank, barrel, and skin-contact fermentation. The nine micro-batches showed real flair and character with unique personality. Blending has brought all of these exotic elements together with maximum expression.
The aromas show this wine’s unique and distinctive richness: musk and jasmine perfumes fill the glass at first, with bold nectarine/golden peach mixing with orange grapefruit/tangerine at its core. The palate is all about texture, with this riot of fruits combining with fine oak to give deliciously-soft bees-waxy mouthfeel, and the whole package delivering fruit plushness with zesty energy and seamless complexity.
12 months of bottle age is highly recommended to allow Epogée to show its true magic.
A fascinating textural and aromatic white blend of Marsanne, Viognier and Roussanne. Available only to wine club members.
